We are four lucky poets. Last weekend, we once again had the privilege of typing poems for the Nantucket Book Festival.
It was magic-on-an-island.
We kicked off our time by writing poems for guests in the sun-dappled Atheneum garden — the outdoor heart of the festival.
In the evening, we got to mingle with the festival presenters — including Billy Collins (our favorite poet!) — at a wonderfully intimate party hosted by co-founder Mary Haft.
Mary also wrote this beautiful article about us for N Magazine. Do we ❤ Mary? More than we can say!
After a second day of Atheneum typing, at night we wrote poems for some of the festival authors at “Authors in Bars.” It was intimidating and awesome.
- Making new friends!
- … and getting a “Westmoor Old-Fashioned”
On Sunday we biked the island (thanks Young’s Bikes!) …
… then got a sweet tour of Cisco Brewery & Distillery.
- tasting “barrel candy”
- Kari reading her “Scotch” poem to the distillery owner

On our last day, we got to type at the gorgeous and welcoming Westmoor Club (our hosts for the weekend — thank you!!!). And in the evening, we were joined by our two newest honorary Rodeo members. ❤

Yeah, we are four lucky freaking poets. Thank you, Nantucket, old friends and new! We can’t wait to come back. ⛵🐳📚❤
