BridgePoint Elementary

We love doing poetry workshops!

For this one, BridgePoint Elementary had us do a series of workshops for their fifth graders. We talked about spontaneity, creativity, and letting go of your inner editor — and of course wrote some poems based on student suggestions.

The next week, the fifth graders hosted their own version of Typewriter Rodeo — giving each other prompts and writing on-the-spot poems. ✏️😀

Here’s BridgePoint’s write-up of the event:

“Your workshop was wonderful preparation for our fifth graders, who then hosted their own Typewriter Rodeo in early March. These two experiences were by far the most successful events we’ve had in the library this year, and we got a ton of positive feedback from students and staff alike.”
